Design Concepts

Breadcrumbs

CityU (DG)'s campus has been designed with the concepts of "Integration", "Intelligence", "Diversity", "Heritage", and "Nature" in mind. By creating landscape platforms that link the Phase 1 and 2 of the campus, the natural landscapes represented by the mountains and waters are seamlessly integrated with the artificial landscapes of the building clusters. This not only crafts a distinct natural scenery but also carries forward the open and inclusive cultural ethos of CityU. The design cleverly bridges the relationship between nature and human culture, heritage, and contemporary characteristics, resulting in an international modern university campus that blends natural landscapes with the characteristics of the Lingnan region.

  • Integration

The two construction phases of CityU (DG) are harmoniously integrated. Spatial ambiance and architectural forms achieve a seamless blend, each emphasizing unique features, while aiming to showcase the concept of integrating teaching, research and innovation through ingenious architectural design.

  • Intelligence

The campus design incorporates the comprehensive needs of faculty and students. A campus network management platform is established, fostering broader and deeper connectivity. This lays the foundation for a smart campus where online and offline realms are fully interconnected.

  • Diversity

By adhering to optimal structural size modules, we ensure flexibility and diverse layouts, opening up possibilities for the sustainable development of the future campus.

  • Heritage

Continuing the structure of CityU, the design will evoke shared landmarks to create intertwined memories. Additionally, with CityU (DG) nestled against mountains and facing waters, the staggered buildings, corridors, and the courtyards all serve to highlight the charm and legacy of Lingnan culture.

  • Nature

The campus is designed to gracefully conform to the natural contour of the hills. The design extends to outdoor platforms and courtyard landscapes. The entirety of the campus merges harmoniously with nature, offering faculty and students a palpably harmonious and vibrant ecological environment.
