In the CityU's "2020-2025 Strategic Plan," five major interdisciplinary strategic research and development areas have been established. These include "One Health", "Digital Society", "Smart City", "Matter", and "Brain", aiming to create a profound impact on technological development and societal advancement. The interdisciplinary themes of CityU (DG) are based on those of CityU, aligned with the national emerging fields, key industries, and the strategic emerging industry clusters of the Greater Bay Area. This approach encompasses four major cutting-edge interdisciplinary themes, permeating throughout the university's education and research themes. CityU (DG)'s Four Cutting-Edge Interdisciplinary Themes: 1. One Health Emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration to promote the collective health of humans, animals, and the environment. 2. Smart City Proposes innovative solutions through interdisciplinary and cross-domain research to address regional and global sustainable economic development, high-quality life, and the harmonious coexistence of the built environment with nature. 3. New Materials & New Energy Conducts interdisciplinary research on matter (or materials) in various forms, involving researchers from all natural sciences in the collaborative development of science, engineering, and technology. This area focuses on enhancing efficiency for environmental protection and sustainable development. 4. Life Sciences & Biotechnology An interdisciplinary field that encompasses biology, neuroscience, biomedicine, molecular biology, and computer science, aiming to promote disease prevention and treatment, and improve human health.
