Professor CHIU Chi Yue is an internationally-renowned social psychologist, whose research spans cultural psychology, sociology, global studies and business. After completing his bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Hong Kong, Professor Chiu went to the United States for further studies and received a Ph.D. from Columbia University. He was previously the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Hong Kong, a professor of psychology at the University of Illinois, the Director of Research at the Business School of Nanyang Technological University, and the Research Director of the National Institute of Asian Consumer Insights, Singapore. He served as Choh-Ming Li Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Social Science at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2014 to 2024. His current research focuses on the role of cultural collaboration in the development of national scientific research, the psychological mechanism of co-evolution of artificial intelligence and humans, and the role of growth mindset in promoting prosperity and social equality. Professor Chiu has won numerous awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chinese Psychologists Association (2024), the Outstanding Contribution Award in Cultural Psychology from the American Society of Personality and Social Psychology (2024), and the Nanyang Technological University Research Excellence Award (2018).
