Beyond classrooms

Mar 27,2025

City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) is redefining the educational journey for its students, far beyond the conventional classroom setting. With a rich array of overseas programmes, study tours, corporate visits, and hands-on internships, CityUHK (DG) is crafting an educational environment that is as enlightening as it is innovative and interactive. This approach ensures that students' learning experiences extend well beyond the ivory tower, embracing multidimensional growth.

Overseas programmes

CityUHK (DG) is broadening its international partnerships to offer students opportunities for overseas studies. Currently, students can apply for summer programmes at University College London (UCL) in the UK and Utrecht University in the Netherlands, as well as summer and semester exchange programmes at San Francisco State University in the USA.

Studying at CityUHK

Additionally, CityUHK (DG) has signed student exchange agreements with CityUHK, allowing outstanding undergraduates and postgraduates to study at each other's campuses annually. This initiative broadens students' horizons and fosters inter-university collaboration.

In December 2024, around 60 CityUHK (DG) students embarked on a two-day study trip to CityUHK. In March 2025, first-year Business Information Systems postgraduate students ventured on a cross-city journey to experience the international vibe and dynamism of CityUHK campus. They attended a lecture on HK Tech 300, igniting their entrepreneurial spirit.

Corporate visits

To familiarise students with the latest technological applications and corporate talent demands, CityUHK (DG) organises regular corporate visits. Recently, about 200 undergraduates and postgraduates visited companies like Tencent, Vivo, Midea, Honor, and China Merchants Bank Technology. These visits offered insights into organisational culture, market strategies, and valuable career guidance.

Hands-on practice

CityUHK (DG) collaborates with over 20 research institutions and corporations, including Songshan Lake Materials Lab, China Spallation Neutron Source, and major telecom and tech companies. These partnerships provide students with abundant research and practical opportunities. Additionally, students can apply for the STEM Internship Schem launched by the Hong Kong SAR government.
