At Peking University, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Fang Fang, Vice-President of Peking University. Fang Fang lauded the enduring, harmonious relationship cultivated between Peking University and CityU, accentuating their joint successes in leveraging educational resources and fostering innovation through the Beijing-Hong Kong Universities Alliance. He expressed aspirations for deepening these ties, particularly in talent development, scientific exploration, and academic exchanges. Prof Lu Chun shared insights into the recent strides made by CityU and CityU (DG), emphasising his desire to widen the scope of collaboration. He proposed joint efforts in cutting-edge fields such as computer science and electronics, alongside advocating for reciprocal faculty and student visits to enrich the academic experience on both sides. The discussions that followed centred on creating joint undergraduate and graduate programmes, laying a promising groundwork for academic synergy. The delegation’s visit to Tsinghua University on the same day was met with equal enthusiasm by Shen Yuan, who oversees Tsinghua’s Department of Electronic Engineering. The conversation delved into collaborative strategies for academic programmes and research endeavours, aiming to cultivate a rich bedrock of talent. Prof Lu Chun's anticipation for an expansive partnership with Tsinghua, especially in crucial disciplines like electrical engineering, underscored the potential for innovative joint training initiatives. These engagements not only solidified mutual understanding but also paved the way for future cooperative ventures between these esteemed institutions, heralding a new chapter in academic collaboration.
