Slated for completion in December 2027, the Phase II campus will open in 2028.Distinguished representatives from the Dongguan Urban Construction Engineering Administration Bureau, CityUHK (DG), Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd., Guangdong Yuejian Project Management Co., Ltd. and China Construction Science and Industry Corp., Ltd. joined the groundbreaking ceremony, where Professor Lu Chun, Executive President of CityUHK (DG), announced the official start of construction.Prof Lu Chun, Executive President of CityUHK (DG), announced the start of constructionAs a landmark project for the development of higher education in the GBA, the Phase II campus construction of CityUHK (DG) spans a planned land area of 342 mu (approximately 227,900 square metres), with a total gross floor area of around 168,700 square metres. Visual effect of Phase II campusThe Phase II campus will include academic and research facilities, living amenities, sports complexes, and landscaped outdoor spaces. Upon completion, it will expand the university's physical capacity to support a planned enrollment of 6,000–8,000 students, while enhancing the learning, research, and living experience for faculty and students — contributing to the university's role in GBA development and talent cultivation.Visual effect of Phase II campusCityUHK (DG) has garnered strong official support from People's Government of Dongguan Municipality. A recent executive meeting reaffirmed its role as a key platform for attracting international talent and driving high-quality development, mandating strict adherence to safety and quality standards for the on-schedule delivery of the Phase II project.CityUHK (DG)’s Phase I campus, spanning 180 mu with a gross floor area of 148,000 square metres. Commissioned in November 2023, it features 16 standalone buildings including a library, teaching buildings, labs, dormitories, admin building, gymnasium, canteens, and a student activity centre.The library at Phase I campusCityUHK (DG) builds on the legacy of City University of Hong Kong. Since receiving Ministry of Education approval in 2024, the university has completed two intake cycles and now has nearly 1,500 students.
