City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has achieved outstanding results in the 2025–2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities Rankings, placing 54th among 2,250 universities worldwide — a significant leap of 25 places from last year.

The programme strengthened collaboration between the municipal advisory body and the university while broadening participants’ perspectives and refining their policy advisory capabilities.  

Over 40 undergraduates and postgraduate students tackled real-world technical challenges set by the companies during the over-40-hour hackathon.

This year, the Grand Prize in Category C (for non-English major undergraduates) was awarded to just 0.1% of participants. 

A prestigious new programme titled “Fostering Innovation for Resilience and Sustainable Transformation” (FIRST) spearheaded by CityUHK has been officially endorsed by UNESCO.

A total of 15 standout projects compete at the final round of the HK Tech 300 National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Dongguan division).

Three CityUHK (DG) Distinguished Lectures, featuring global thought leaders addressing pivotal shifts in technology and socioeconomics, have explored supply chain resilience, AI industrialisation, and new space economy strategies with staff and students.  

Chair Professor Liu Zishun, Chair Professor Li Yi and Professor Jian Linni are in the list of Elsevier's Highly Cited Chinese Researchers 2024.
